Why Volunteer?
- Volunteers are interested in farming and/or history
- Want to meet new people and learn new things
- Want to share their existing skills and learn new ones
- Want to be part of an organization that values their contribution
Volunteers can accept ongoing weekly assignments and/or can participate in special events at the Orange County Farmers' Museum.
Below is our Volunteer Brochure for you to download.
The Orange County Farmers Museum is a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of the history of farms, farm families and farming in the towns of Orange County, New York.
We started with one barn, a small workshop, a small visitors center and a chicken house. We now have two additional
barns, a blacksmith shop, and enlarged workshop, a sawmill, a running shed and a memorial building to house our collection on display. We are currently building a new education center with heated restroom facilities.
Weekend activities include exhibits of farm machinery, the art of blacksmithing, sawmill demonstrations, exhibits of life on the farm and hayrides.
Your tax deductible membership or donation provides support for our building program and for maintaining the museum.
The museum relies entirely on volunteer labor and member donations. Gifts of equipment and memorabilia are greatly appreciated.
